Research Interests
Women’s Cardiometabolic Health
My clinical and research training as a nurse uniquely positions me to collaborate with researchers to address health inequities by targeting multilevel factors such as systems of power, the social and built environments, and physiological pathways linking social realities to health outcomes. My long-term goal is to become a nurse scientist with a program of research exploring the intersection of social realities, stress physiology and racial/ethnic inequities in women’s cardiometabolic health across the life course. I am particularly interested in reducing cardiometabolic health inequities through policy changes that will disrupt the structural and systemic factors that drive cardiometabolic health inequities. Additionally, through my role as a nurse scientist, I aim to design and implement culturally-tailored interventions for the prevention and self-management of cardiometabolic diseases.
